'The Defenders' Up, 'Supernatural' Steady

It was a relatively quiet day on Friday, with only a handful of originals airing.

Fox pushed back Fringe one week, airing the NAACP Image Awards (2.3 million, 0.6), which pushed the network to last place in the ad-favored 18-49 demographic.

CBS' The Defenders (8.5 million, 1.5), on the other hand, improved. Repeats of CSI: NY and Blue Bloods followed, putting CBS second (1.4).

The CW's one-two punch of Smallville (2.2 million, 1.0) and Supernatural (2.2 million, 1.0) performed solidly, snagging fourth place in the demo (1.0) for the night.

NBC won the night with Who Do You Think You Are? (6.1 million, 1.2) and Dateline (6.8 million, 1.8), making the latter the highest-rated program for Friday. The network drew a 1.6 rating in the key demo.

ABC placed third, averaging a 1.1 rating.
