Dennis Quaid to Play George W. Bush in FX's 'Katrina: American Crime Story'

Katrina: American Crime Story has cast its George W. Bush.

Dennis Quaid will play the part of the former president in the Ryan Murphy limited series. He joins a cast that already includes Matthew Broderick as Federal Emergency Management Agency director Michael D. Brown and Annette Bening as Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.

Quaid will portray the 43rd president of the United States at a time when he was criticized in the media for his handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Katrina is FX's second ACS installment following 2016 awards magnet The People v. O.J. Simpson. Courtney B. Vance, Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr., all of whom appeared in People v. O.J., will also play a part in the new season, which is set to debut in 2018.

The franchise — a Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions series — is set to tackle the 1997 murder of Gianni Versace in its third season and the Monica Lewinsky scandal in its fourth.

Quaid, for his part, has done mostly film work, though he's recently been seen on the small screen in Crackle's The Art of More and Sky Atlantic's Fortitude. He is best known for his roles in The Day After Tomorrow, The Parent Trap and The Rookie. Quaid is repped by WME and Hansen Jacobson.
