'Dickinson' Gets Early Season 3 Renewal at Apple
The second season of Apple's comedy series Dickinson is three months away, but the tech giant is getting a jump on the show's future.
Apple TV+ has renewed the Hailee Steinfeld-led series for a third season, extending the show's run after what it said was a successful first season (like other streaming platforms, Apple doesn't publicly release viewing figures). The series also won a Peabody Award earlier this year.
Season two of Dickinson, meanwhile, is set to premiere Jan. 8 with its first three episodes, with the remainder debuting weekly.
Steinfeld will be joined by returning cast members Jane Krakowski, Anna Baryshnikov, Ella Hunt, Toby Huss, Adrian Blake Enscoe and Wiz Khalifa. Newcomers for season two include Nick Kroll as Edgar Allan Poe, Timothy Simons as Frederick Law Olmstead, Ayo Edebiri as Hattie and Will Pullen as a character known as Nobody. Finn Jones and Pico Alexander will recur in the second season.
Alena Smith, who signed an overall deal at Apple in May, created Dickinson and serves as showrunner. She executive produces with Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta for Sugar23 Productions; Alex Goldstone for Anonymous Content; Paul Lee and Josh Stern for wiip; and Steinfeld. Wiip, Anonymous Content and Sugar23 produce the series.
