Disney+ Sets 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Holiday Special
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is coming home for the holidays.
The Disney+ series will return on Dec. 11 for a 45-minute holiday special starring the show's cast. High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special will feature performances of holiday classics, popular hits and a medley of Hanukkah favorites from series regulars Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Reneé, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr and Kate Reinders.
The cast will also share anecdotes of memorable holidays from their childhoods, best presents, favorite traditions, family photos and upcoming New Year's resolutions. Bassett will debut an acoustic version of an original song which he wrote for season two of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
"The holidays remind us of the universal importance of family and loved ones," executive producer Tim Federle said in a statement. "The cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is its own kind of family, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to share their favorite holiday music and traditions with our viewers."
Ashley Edens is executive producing along with creator and director Federle. A holiday soundtrack for the special will be available on Nov. 20.
High School Musical: The Musical:The Series premiered its first season in November 2019 with the launch of Disney+, and follows a group of East High students putting on a stage production of the High School Musical movie. A season two premiere date has not yet been announced.
