'Doctor Who' Premiere Date Revealed

Peter Capaldi debuts as the 12th Doctor on Aug. 23 on BBC America.

BBC America has set a date for Doctor Who.

Viewers will get their first complete look at the 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BBC America.

Capaldi was introduced during last November's 50th anniversary Doctor Who special and in the final moments of last year's Christmas hour.

The 56-year-old Scottish actor will be joined by Jenna Coleman, who reprises her role as companion Clara Oswald, and Samuel Anderson, who plays Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School, where Clara works. Guest stars include Ben Miller, Keeley Hawes and Tom Riley.

Ahead of the premiere, Capaldi and Coleman will make their first U.S. appearance together on Thursday, Aug. 14 in New York City as part of the first Doctor Who tour. It kicks off in Cardiff, Wales, and will also stop in London, Seoul, Sydney, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.
