Doctor Who is ramping up its cast.

The History Boys and Gavin & Stacey alum Samuel Anderson is joining the British drama in a recurring role, it was announced Monday.

Co-starring opposite the new Time Lord Peter Capaldi and companion Jenna Coleman, Anderson will play Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School where Clara (Coleman) also teaches. This marks a reunion for Anderson and Coleman, who previously worked on British series Emmerdale together.

"For the fourth time in Doctor Who history, Coal Hill School is coming to the aid of the TARDIS. In 1963, teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright accompanied the first Doctor. These days it's the turn of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. And very soon now, Sam Anderson as Danny Pink will be entering the world of the Doctor," said Doctor Who executive producer Steven Moffat. "But how and why? Answers are coming later this year in Peter Capaldi's first season of Doctor Who!"

Filming has already begun on the new season of Doctor Who, will also will co-star Robert Goodman (Gangs of New York, Game of Thrones), Jonathan Bailey (Broadchurch) and Pippa Bennett-Warner (The Smoke).

Anderson is repped by Creative Artists Management in the U.K.

Doctor Who returns to BBC America in the U.S. later this year.
