Drop Dead Diva’s Josh Berman and Rescue Me’s Peter Tolan are developing a drama project for ABC revolving around a female FBI agent and her former fiance.

In addition, the network has picked up a script from Detroit 1-8-7 executive producers David Zabel and Jason Richman.

The untitled Berman and Tolan script will revolve around a female FBI profiler who is paired up with a homicide detective in a bid to make the FBI more accessible to local law enforcement – but there’s a catch: the two were once engaged and haven’t seen one another since their wedding day, when he came out of the closet.

Berman penned the script, from Sony Pictures Television, and will write and executive produce; Tolan is on board as a nonwriting executive producer.

Berman’s credits include Drop Dead Diva, Bones and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; Tolan’s work includes Rescue Me and The Larry Sanders Show.

From ABC Studios, Zabel penned the script for Two Roads, which will tell dual stories about a woman who has doubts on her wedding day – one in which she says, “I do,” and another where she doesn’t.

Zabel penned the script and will write and executive produce with Richman.

Zabel’s credits include ER; Richman has worked on the upcoming big-screen adaptation of MacGyver.
