E! is diving deeper into the scripted sphere. The channel has ordered a pilot for the scripted drama The Arrangement from former Mad Men scribe Jonathan Abrahams, E! announced Thursday.

The project centers on Megan Morrison, a beautiful young actress who auditions for the female lead in a summer blockbuster playing opposite the hottest actor in town. Her amazing audition segues into a perfect first date, but her Cinderella story turns bizarre when she is presented with a contract that details an entire relationship with her leading man. Megan must weigh the positives and negatives to her career and her personal life, and decide whether or not she will accept this arrangement.

Abrahams will also exec produce with Jimmy Fox of Objective Productions USA, and Stephen Lambert and Eli Holzman of All3Media America. Universal Cable Productions will produce.

The news comes in the wake of the successful launch of the E!'s first scripted series The Royals, which earned an early renewal in January, two months before its premiere.

“Jonathan has written a terrific script that juxtaposes a very public Hollywood romance with darker, more nefarious elements. We are excited to work with Universal Cable Productions and Objective to make this pilot and bring the story to life,” said E!'s Kevin Plunkett, senior vp, scripted programming.  “The Arrangement is the perfect follow-up to the success of The Royals, taking the E! brand further into the scripted space with young-skewing, escapist stories.”

In addition to his Emmy-winning work on Mad Men, on which he also served as a producer, Abrahams' other credits include Murder in the First, Perception and Raising the Bar.
