One week before the second season of Fox's horror series The Exorcist premieres, the network has released some frightening new images and a poster showcasing the new Pacific Northwest tableau.

The new season shifts the focus from the urban sprawl of Chicago to the rural, tree-lined islands of the Pacific Northwest, marking a new entry in the anthology series based on William Peter Blatty's series of novels.

The poster shows star Brianna Hildebrand screaming in profile as strands of her hair rise upwards in a resemblance of the haunting woods that dot the new setting.

The released episodic images, meanwhile, showcase a less suggestive horror, opting for visceral frights familiar to fans of the series. In one, Zibby Allen performs an infamous "spiderwalk" made famous in the original 1973 film, while Alfonso Herrera's Father Tomas Ortega quotes scripture.

In another blood-soaked image, Allen, possessed by a demon, bites into the hand of a priest attempting to subdue her.

Also returning for season two are stars Ben Daniels and Kurt Egyiawan, who join Herrera's Father Tomas as traveling, demon-fighting priests. John Cho (Star Trek) will also star in the upcoming season.

The Exorcist premieres Friday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
