Ryan Gosling's Daughters Think He's an Astronaut After Visiting Him on 'First Man' Set

Because Ryan Gosling plays real-life astronaut Neil Armstrong in First Man, his daughters now believe he's an astronaut.

While visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, the host asked if his daughters have seen him in his character's space suit. "They did. They came to set," he said. "They came on this day where I was shooting a launch scene, so I was in the space suit and pretending to launch."

"I think they think I'm an astronaut now," he said. "My oldest said the other day, she pointed to the moon. She was like, 'That's where you work, right?'"

After laughing, Kimmel said, "The answer of it is, 'Absolutely, yes. Of course,' right?" Gosling responded, "I don't know."

"To me, it's yes," continued Kimmel. "Yes, always lie to your children."

First Man recounts the life of Armstrong and the famous space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the moon.

Earlier in the interview, the host asked if being part of the film made him "want to renounce his Canadian citizenship and become an American."

"It's hard not to feel patriotic when you see this film," he responded. "I think it's true."
