Fox Nabs Family Comedy From 'Friends' Alum, 'New Girl' EP
A family comedy from the executive producers of Friends and New Girl has landed at Fox with a hefty commitment.
The network has handed out a put-pilot with a significant penalty attached to an untitled comedy from Scott Silveri, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The comedy is said to have received one of the most significant commitments of the development year thus far.
The single-camera comedy, Silveri's first sale under his new overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, centers on a family that's good at handling the challenges it faces and excellent at creating new ones.
Silveri (Friends, Joey, Go On) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Jake Kasdan (New Girl) and Melvin Mar. Silveri also has CBS family comedy The Mistake, a pilot Warner Bros. Television developed last season that was rolled to next year with Friends alum Shana Goldberg-Meehan and Seinfeld's David Mandel attached.
For his part, Kasdan has two comedies bowing this year: ABC's Fresh Off the Boat and Fox's midseason entry Weird Loners.
Silveri is repped by WME and Rohner Walerstein. Kasdan is with WME and Sloss Eckhouse. Mar is also with WME.
