Fox Orders Animated Pilot Presentation 'That's My Bus' (Exclusive)

Thats My Bus Still Publicity H 2016

Fox is looking to add to its animated roster.

The network has ordered a pilot presentation for That's My Bus, an animated comedy that won best half-hour pitch at this past year's New York Television Festival.

That's My Bus is a fast-paced ride into the world (and mind) of New York City bus driver Bill Russell. Passionate about his bus yet possessed of a stubborn worldview, Bill uses every bump and turn in the road to teach his son important life lessons while simultaneous driving his wife, passengers and boss crazy.

Created by stand-up comedians Dan Perlman and Will Julian, Tom Brady (FX's animated Chozen) will serve as showrunner on the comedy. Perlman is a regular at Stand Up New York, Caroline's on Broadway and The Stand. He also hosts interactive storytelling show Hindsight every month at Caroline's on Broadway and co-founded, writes and stars in CollegeHumor web series Moderately Funny. Julian performs at clubs and colleges across the country and created and starred in his own award-winning pilot, Why Willy Why, which was chosen as an official selection at the NYTVF, the Independent Television Festival, the Williamsburg Independent Film Festival and the 2015 Los Angeles Comedy Festival, where it won the Kick Ass Original Award.

That's My Bus caught the attention of Fox comedy development executives at Montreal's Just for Laughs festival.

Perlman is repped by Paradigm, Franklin Weinrib and Converge Media Group; Julian is with Paradigm, Franklin, Weinrib and Finer Entertainment. Brady (Home Improvement) is with ICM Partners and Circle of Confusion.

Should That's My Bus go to series, it would join an animated roster that also includes The Simpsons, Family Guy and the upcoming live-action/animated hybrid entry Son of Zorn, with the latter also starting as a pilot presentation. Seth MacFarlane rookie animated entry Bordertown was canceled last month after one low-rated season.
