Freeform is trying out a new model for its forthcoming Tim Kring drama Beyond.

The younger-skewing cable network will launch the series on the linear network on Monday, Jan. 2 at 9 p.m., with all 10 episodes debuting at the same time online in a binge model.

The drama revolves around Holden (Burkely Duffield), a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.

All 10 episodes will be available on multiple digital platforms, including the Freeform app,, On Demand and Hulu. The digital rollout — which mirrors the Netflix binge model — marks a first for Freeform.

"The premiere of Beyond marks an important milestone in the history of Freeform, nearly a year since our rebrand,” said Freeform president Tom Ascheim. “One of the promises we made to our audience at the time was to create content they love and to make that content easily accessible. Beyond helps us live up to both promises. In the same way we modernized our brand, we are modernizing how we bring our shows to our audience. Beyond is our first, and definitely not our last, 'binge-from-the-start' show.”

The digital play should come as little surprise given Freeform's younger-skewing demographic and engaged social audience. Given the forthcoming conclusion of stalwart Pretty Little Liars, Ascheim has been refocusing the Disney-owned cable network on "becomers." Other networks have employed a similar strategy, including NBC's Aquarius, which released its entire first season in conjunction with its series debut. (The drama was canceled after two seasons.)

From Imperative Entertainment and Automatik, Beyond is created, written and executive produced by Adam Nussdorf (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland). Kring, David Eick, Steven Adelson, Zak Kadison, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones executive produce. Romy Rosemont, Michael McGrady, Jonathan Whitesell, Dilan Gwyn and Jeff Pierre co-star.
