'Fringe,' 'Defenders' Finale Steady in Friday Ratings

After a week off the air, Fox's Fringe returned Friday, putting up comparable ratings from its last original.

Fringe drew 3.8 million total viewers and snagged a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, placing second in its time slot in the demo behind top-rated CSI: NY. Fringe's lead-in Kitchen Nightmares (4.1 million, 1.7) won the hour. Fox (1.6) placed second behind CBS.

CBS aired the season finale of The Defenders (9 million, 1.5), which did OK. While the return of Defenders is questionable, the next two hours performed solidly. CSI: NY (11 million, 2.0) was the top-rated program of the night and Blue Bloods (11.8 million, 1.9) was the most-watched.

NBC's Who Do You Think You Are? drew 3.9 million and a 0.9 rating. The network tied with ABC in the demo with a 1.4.
