FX Rounds Out Cast of Star-Studded 'Fosse/Verdon' Drama

Norbert Leo Butz, Margaret Qualley, Aya Cash and Nate Corddry are among the latest additions to the limited series starring Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams.

FX has rounded out its impressive cast for limited series Fosse/Verdon.

Joining the eight-episode drama about the romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams) are series regulars Norbert Leo Butz and Margaret Qualley and recurring players Aya Cash, Nate Corddry, Susan Misner, Bianca Marroquin, Kelli Barrett, Evan Handler, Rick Holmes and Paul Reiser. Also joining the cast are Ethan Slater, Byron Jennings and Laura Osnes.

Fosse/Verdon is based on Fosse, the biography written by Sam Wasson. The eight-part limited series tells the story of the singular romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. He was a visionary filmmaker and one of theater’s most influential choreographers and directors. She was the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Together they changed the face of American entertainment — at a perilous cost. Featuring Fosse’s choreography, the series explores the hidden corners of show business, the price of pursuing greatness and the suffering inflicted in the name of art.

Butz will portray playwright, screenwriter and novelist Paddy Chayefsky. Qualley is set as actress, dancer and choreographer Ann Reinking. Cash will play Joan Simon, Neil Simon's wife and a close friend of Verdon. Corddry is set as playwright, screenwriter and author Neil Simon. Misner will play dancer, actress and comedian Joan McCracken. Marroquin will play actress, dancer and singer Chita Rivera. Barrett will play singer, actress Liza Minnelli. Handler is set as producer Hal Prince. Holmes will play Fred Weaver, who oversaw the Chicago Academy of Theater Arts. Reiser is taking on the role of theater producer, director, composer and musician Cy Feuer. Slater will play actor, singer, dancer, director and photographer Joel Grey. Jennings is theater producer, director and playwright George Abbott. Laura Osnes rounds out the cast as Shirley MacLaine.

Steven Levenson (Dear Evan Hansen) will serve as showrunner and penned the pilot episode, which will be directed by Hamilton's Thomas Kail. Kail, Levenson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rockwell, Williams, Joel Fields (The Americans) and George Stelzner will executive produce the series, which is a co-production between Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. Actress, dancer and producer Nicole Fosse, the daughter of Fosse and Verdon, will serve as co-exec producer and will oversee for The Verdon Fosse Legacy. Co-producer Andy Blankenbuehler serves as a choreographer, as does Misner. Erica Kay serves as producer. Production is currently underway in New York ahead of its spring 2019 debut. 

Butz (Bloodline, My Fair Lady) is repped by CAA and Elin Flack Management. Qualley (The Leftovers, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) is with UTA, Management 360 and Sloane Offer. Cash, who next stars in the final season of FXX's critical darling You're the Worst, is with UTA. Corddry (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Mindhunter) is with Gersh and Jackoway Tyerman. Misner (Chicago, The Americans, Jack Ryan) is with One Entertainment and Myman Greenspan. Marroquin (Chicago, Miranda's In the Heights) is with BRS/Gage Talent Agency. Barrett (Rock of Ages, The Punisher) is with Abrams Artists Agency. Handler (Sex and the City, Californication) is with APA. Holmes (The Post) is with Paradigm. Reiser (Stranger Things, Mad About You) is with Gersh.
