NBC’s new fitness competition series Strong has found its host.

Professional volleyball player Gabrielle Reece has been tapped for the role. The 45-year-old sports announcer, fashion model, actress and author will put her fitness expertise to work on the upcoming 10-episode reality series, which matches 10 everyday women with 10 male trainers who help them lose weight and get fit.

The unscripted entry, which comes from The Biggest Loser’s Dave Broome, Sylvester Stallone and Holly Wofford, will follow the group as they work together to compete in a series of grueling challenges that will test their strength, endurance and mental stamina — with one pair getting eliminated each week.

For her part, Reece has long been an instrumental voice in the fitness industry. She’s written for Yahoo Health, The Huffington Post and the Los Angeles Times Magazine, and has also served as a host on Fit TV series Insider Training. Additionally, she is the creator of HIGHX Training, a high-intensity group fitness program.

“I couldn’t be more proud and thrilled to partner up with NBC on Strong,” she said. “The opportunity to share the concept of people wanting to and working toward tapping into their greatness is a dream. My hope is that we can use the show to inspire and motivate others.”

A premiere date for Strong, produced by Broome's 25/7 Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television, has not yet been announced.
