Galaxy Quest Still - H 2015

Galaxy Quest is ready for its next adventure.

The 1999 sci-fi cult hit movie has landed at Amazon for a TV follow-up, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The movie-to-TV adaptation hails from Paramount Television and comes with the film's original behind-the-scenes staff attached: Scribe Robert Gordon will to write the TV version and executive produce with the film's director Dean Parisot, producer Mark Johnson and Johnson's producing partner Melissa Bernstein.

While the potential show is in early development — meaning there's no pilot order let alone a full-series pickup — it's unclear which, if any, of original stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Daryl Mitchell and Enrico Colantoni would return.

Galaxy Quest is the latest movie to be adapted for the small screen. For the 2015-16 broadcast season, ABC has Uncle Buck, CBS has Limitless and Rush Hour and Fox has Minority Report. Paramount Television has been busy turning its film library into TV follow-ups, with School of Rock on Nickelodeon and USA's Shooter, a pilot based on the Mark Wahlberg film.

EW first reported the Galaxy Quest news.
