Game of Thrones may be bleak, but it manages to inspire some laughs as well. The Hollywood Reporter looks back at this week's top memes and other funny bits inspired by the HBO hit.

There's a whole series of Game of Thrones characters looking like they are from the 80s or 90s created by a Tokyo-based graphic designer. This look (left) at Joffrey brilliantly communicates the notion that no matter the era, he'd be a little punk. And the gun is a nice stand-in for his crossbow.

On Friday, NBC's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon unveiled a truly epic Game of Thrones parody. 3. Long Walks with Jaime (Credits: Kylian Van Eecke)

We have long maintained the most compelling part of season 3 isn't the dragons (or even Tyrion). It's the growing friendship between Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Brienne (Gwendoline Christie). Brienne would surely object to this meme -- but it does raise a good point. Could he be the man of her dreams?

5. Remember Balon? (source: stannisbaratheon)

Oh yeah! We remember Balon Greyjoy. He's that other self-declared king, the one Theon is always whining doesn't love him enough. Poor Balon hasn't had any screen time since second episode of season 2, so it must be nice to be remembered, even if it's in a curse.
