Fox was the only broadcast network airing originals Tuesday night, but they didn't stand out from the pack.

Fox flipped the time periods of its Tuesday dramas to start the new year, and the switch did The Gifted no favors.

The Marvel series hit a low among adults 18-49 despite being the only original show on the broadcast networks in the 9 o'clock hour. The Gifted drew a 0.5 rating in the demo, 0.1 below its previous low. Lethal Weapon held steady at 0.7 with an earlier start time.

The other broadcast nets aired reruns opposite college football bowl games on ESPN. A repeat of Ellen's Game of Games topped the night with a 1.0, a week ahead of its second-season premiere on NBC.

A rerun of The Conners on ABC tied Lethal Weapon at 0.7 for the second-best mark of the night on the broadcast networks.

Fox and NBC tied for the adults 18-49 lead with 0.6 ratings. ABC and CBS were also tied, a tenth of a point back at 0.5. The CW drew a 0.2.

ESPN's Sugar Bowl telecast topped everything on broadcast in primetime. Its 7.8 household rating in metered markets was up 27 percent versus the 2017 game. Earlier in the day the Rose Bowl delivered a 9.7 household rating, up slightly from 2017. (In 2018 both bowls served as College Football Playoff semifinals.)
