'Gilmore Girls' Rings In 16th Anniversary With New Behind-the-Scenes Video, Free Coffee
In the eyes of diehard Gilmore Girls fans, no date likely holds a candle to Nov. 25: the day the highly anticipated four-part revival hits Netflix.
But Oct. 5 might be a close second. Wednesday marked the 16th anniversary of the premiere of the beloved family dramedy and with the revival launch near, Netflix pulled out all the stops to get fans nostalgic about their favorite small town (and its many zany locals).
The streaming giant kicked off the day with the release of a new video featuring on-set interviews with nearly a dozen returning castmembers. In addition to stars like Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop, supporting favorites like Liza Weil, Sean Gunn and yes, all three of Rory's boyfriends (Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia and Matt Czuchry), wax nostalgic about the series in the video.
"Everybody feels very connected and bonded through this show," Weil says in the video.
Adds Ventimiglia, with the Stars Hollow set behind him: "It's fun and exciting to be around great memories."

Netflix also rang in the "Gilmoreversary" with special one-day-only Luke's Diner pop-ups that took over more than 200 coffee shops across the country. In Beverly Hills, fans were lined up as early as 10 p.m. the night before to make sure they didn't miss the free coffee, which came in specially designed cups featuring quotes from the series and sleeves adorned with the Luke's logo. Fans came dressed in signature Luke style — backwards baseball caps and flannel shirts — as they took pictures with a cut-out of Luke himself holding a long list of diner rules (updated for 2016 with mandates like no man buns and no texting while eating.)
Both the Beverly Hills and Studio City's locations of Comoncy hosted pop-ups. Patterson stopped by the Beverly Hills location, while Yanic Truesdale, who plays Michel, visited the Studio City venue. With lines running around the block, both shops ran out of the the 500 coffee cups by 11 a.m. after opening at 7 a.m.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life launches Nov. 25 on Netflix.
