'Glee' Adds 'American Dreams,' 'Hawthorne' Actress For Season 3

Vanessa Lengies is transferring to McKinley High.

As first reported by TV Line, The Hawthorne and American Dreams actress has booked a recurring role as Sugar on Fox’s musical hit Glee, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Sugar is described as a new student who is a cross between Molly Shannon and a New Jersey Housewife who is unable to carry a tune.

Little else is known about her role, when she’ll first appear or who she’ll share scenes with.

Lengies, repped by Gersh and the Burstein Company, has also appeared on Hawthorne and episodes of Castle, CSI: Miami and Rules of Engagement.

On American Dreams, she played Roxanne Bojarski, the best friend of Brittany Snow’s Meg Pryor. The series, like Glee, featured singing and dancing, with Lengies’ Roxanne also dancing on American Bandstand as part of the series.

Lengies’ casting comes the same day that Glee booked former Friday Night Lights good guy LaMarcus Tinker as a love interest for Amber Riley’s Mercedes.

Glee’s third season premieres Sept. 20 on Fox.
