Glee takes on Frozen during the Fox musical's final-season premiere on Friday.

The back-to-back episodes see Lea Michele's Rachel Berry return to McKinley High after a failed TV career, calling upon her former New Directions friends for support as she looks to reinvent herself.

Fox officially trimmed the sixth and final season episode count to 13 after the global hit repeatedly hit series lows in its fifth season, with ratings down considerably from those of its early heyday. The move came as little surprise after Glee — one of the lowest-rated scripted series to earn an additional season renewal after Fox's two-season pickup a year ago — was left off the network's fall schedule.

Murphy told reporters in April that the final season would feature a time jump and focus more on the original castmembers, shifting the focus from its previous relocated home in New York.

"The final season is really its own story and its own location, and while the New York stuff will be alive, the final season is not New York-centric at all," Murphy said. "It really [will be] a lovely, fitting season that … dwells on the original people that were on the show and what happens to them and how they give back. That really is the last season. … We'll revisit some of the new kids that came and went. There's a return of the Jane [Lynch]-Matt [Morrison] characters in a big way. It's really interesting, a very sweet, satisfying ending to the story."

Glee, meanwhile, is one of a growing roster of series to take on Frozen this season. It joins The Simpsons, Once Upon a Time — which has built its first half around the storyline — as well as New Girl and The Mindy Project. (THR's recent poll found 53 percent of readers had already had enough of Frozen on fall TV.) Watch Michele's performance below. Glee premieres Friday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
