ABC's The Goldbergs has sold in syndication.

Producers Sony Pictures Television on Wednesday announced that the semi-autobiographical comedy based on the life of showrunner Adam F. Goldberg has closed a syndication deal with Tribune Broadcasting's owned-and-operated stations.

Under the pact, The Goldbergs will air in 18 major markets when it debuts in syndication in fall 2017. Collectively, the 16 Tribune stations reach nearly 37 percent of U.S. TV households.

Tribune stations that will broadcast the comedy starring Wendi McLendon-Covey and Jeff Garlin are: WPIX-TV (New York), KTLA-TV (Los Angeles), WGN-TV, (Chicago), KDAF-TV (Dallas), WDCW-TV (Washington, D.C.), KIAH-TV (Houston), KCPQ-TV/KZJO-TV (Seattle), WSFL-TV (Miami), KWGN-TV/KDVR-TV (Denver), KTVI-TV/KPLR-TV (St. Louis), KRCW-TV (Portland, Ore.), WXIN-TV (Indianapolis), WTIC-TV (Hartford), WDAF-TV (Kansas City), KFOR-TV/KAUT-TV (Oklahoma City), WHNT-TV (Huntsville, Ala.), WPHL-TV (Philadelphia) and WQAD-TV (Davenport, Iowa).

"The Goldbergs is a stand-out comedy with all-family appeal, growing ratings and buzz-worthy storytelling, making it a great fit for our stations," said Tribune Media strategic programming and acquisitions president Sean Compton.

Added SPT distribution president John Weiser: "The Goldbergs is a success by all measures. With three consecutive seasons of ratings growth, The Goldbergs is the No. 1 comedy available in the market this year, and for the next several years looking ahead. It is poised for a long run on ABC and in syndication."

The Goldbergs will return for a fourth season on ABC in the fall, when it will move from Wednesdays at 8:30 to 8 p.m. The scheduling shift is a vote of confidence from the network that The Goldbergs has built a loyal audience strong enough to open the night.

Meanwhile, Hulu has the first three seasons of The Goldbergs available and runs new episodes the morning after they air on ABC.

George Segal, Sean Giambrone, Hayley Orrantia and Troy Gentile round out the cast.
