'Grey's Anatomy': Jackson Turns to Religion to Save His Son (Exclusive Video)

April and Jackson are facing a huge decision during Thursday's Grey's Anatomy.

With the fate of their unborn son still to be determined, the newly married couple are waiting for test results to see just what type of osteogenesis imperfecta — aka brittle bone disorder — their baby has. And with it comes a potentially devastating decision.

While April (Sarah Drew) has always been outspoken about her religious beliefs in God and a higher power, that's not something she shares with Jackson (Jesse Williams). But in an exclusive clip from Thursday's episode, Jackson turns to a higher power when he pleads for his wife and unborn child.

"It's a really hard and ultimately beautiful story that Sarah Drew pitched to me that we're doing, which is a struggle between science and faith," showrunner Shonda Rhimes told THR about the arc. "I'm really excited to tell it. Sarah plays it beautifully. It does have its spiritual uplifting moments where you actually feel peace for them, which is wonderful. It's a really hard story; I was like, 'I don't want to hurt this baby!' It's a really hard story but I think we ended up telling it in a way that really feels true, respectful and also honors a doctor who is struggling between science and faith."

Watch the clip above, and stay tuned to THR's The Live Feed after the episode airs on Thursday for something special with Drew.

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
