Ellen Pompeo is looking to bring the flavor of Grey's Anatomy to the courtroom.

The actress-producer is teaming with ABC to adapt Colombian format La ley del corazon as a drama called Big Law.

The project, which is in development at the network, is described as a modern look at a large Los Angeles law firm and what it takes to survive and thrive in our work-obsessed society. The lines between lawyers' professional and personal lives are increasingly blurred, and moral ambiguity is a job requirement.

David Marshall Grant (Looking, Code Black, Brothers & Sisters) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Pompeo. The drama, based on the format from RCN, hails from Pompeo's ABC Studios-based Calamity Jane banner, with the company's Laura Holstein also attached as an executive producer.

Pompeo has had a long relationship with Grey's Anatomy producers ABC Studios and maintains an active role as a producer via her overall deal with the Disney-owned company. She has sold multiple scripts to broadcast (and some to cable) in addition to starring on the Shondaland-produced medical drama, which is now in its 14th season on ABC.

Grant is repped by CAA and attorney Jamie Mandelbaum. Calamity Jane is with CAA, John Carrabino Management and Hansen Jacobson.
