Emmy and Oscar winner Christine Lahti is headed for the islands.

Lahti has booked travel to CBS' Hawaii Five-0, where she'll recur as Doris McGarrett, the presumed-dead mother of Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin).

"The mysterious character of Doris McGarrett is a pivotal one to the mythology of our show," executive producer Peter Lenkov said in a statement announcing the casting Tuesday. "We are thrilled to have a seasoned and beloved actress such as Christine to portray her. She's a wonderful addition to the H50 family, and the fans will certainly enjoy what we have in store for her. Let's just say that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

Lahti, an Oscar winner for directing the 1996 best live-action short winner Lieberman in Love and a supporting actress nominee for 1984's Swing Shift, is a six-time Emmy nominee, winning in 1998 for playing Dr. Kathryn Austin on the CBS medical drama Chicago Hope. The casting reunites her with the Eye network.

Her credits also include Law & Order: SVU, Running on Empty and Jack & Bobby, which earned her SAG and Golden Globe nominations.

She's repped by ICM Partners and Management 360.

Hawaii Five-0, a reboot of the classic 1968-80 series, was renewed in March for a third season.
