Barry Sloane is going into combat mode.

The Revenge alum has signed on to star in History's military action-drama Six, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The series centers on a brotherhood of modern American warriors — Navy SEAL Team Six, to be exact — who take on the most high-risk military special-ops missions in the world. However, their 2014 mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with the terrorists.

Sloane will play John "Bear" Graves, the recently appointed leader of Seal Team Six.

The series will be produced by A+E Studios, Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company in association with Academy Award nominee William Broyles (CastawayApollo 13) and military special operations veteran David Broyles, who penned the script. Bob Weinstein, Alfredo Barrios Jr. (Burn Notice) and George W. Perkins (Live from Baghdad) will exec produce. Bruce C. McKenna (Band of Brothers, The Pacific) will serve as an executive consultant and will help write for the series along with Barrios, the Broyles and Karen Campbell (Dexter). Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Mitchell Hall (Zero Dark ThirtyLone Survivor) will serve as technical adviser.

Six is the latest ambitious project from A+E Studios, which also produces Lifetime's buzzy hit UnREAL and boasts upcoming projects including the Roots remake and History’s Jeremy Renner-produced drama Knightfall.

Sloane, whose other credits include The Whispers, Longmire and Noah, is repped by Innovative Artists and Silver Lining Entertainment.
