'Homeland' Season 5: Latest Behind-the-Scenes Trailer Fills in the Gaps

George Costanza once observed, "Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in." Carrie Mathison must share his frustration.

Homeland's creative team recently revealed that its central character, played by Claire Danes, starts off the Showtime drama's upcoming fifth season far removed from the CIA — but things won't stay that way for long. "Carrie has settled into true domesticity," Danes says in a new behind-the-scenes trailer for the series. "She's doing great for about five minutes."

"Doing great," as the three-minute spot shows, entails a new boyfriend (actor Jonas Happich), overcoming her ambiguously feelings toward her now-toddler daughter and keeping a job at a private security firm in Berlin.

The latest look at the fifth season comes just a few hours before Showtime takes the stage at the Television Critics Association summer press tour to tout Homeland vet Damian Lewis' new series, Billions. And, as in a previous Homeland season, this one again finds Carrie estranged from mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin). "Saul has become a real company man," adds Danes, "and Carrie rejected the company."

Naturally, the actors and producers seem less inclined to talk about what direction the show is heading in now. "We're riding this train on tracks that are being laid," Danes sums up. "Nobody really knows where it's going to go."
