IFC has handed out a third-season renewal for Maron.

The original comedy from and starring Marc Maron gets another 13 episodes, set for a spring 2015 run. A fictionalized look at his own life, it follows his successful WTF podcast.

“I am very proud of both seasons of the show and thrilled we're doing another one,” said Maron. “Through all the episodes I can see the growth and evolution of the character, writing and comedy. I’m excited about getting back into the process.  The character of Maron needs some work on and off screen and fortunately that’s what drives the show.”

The cable network continues to push into comedy with personalities like Maron more-or-less playing themselves. IFC recently launched musical-comedy Garfunkel and Oates, starring Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome, and Portlandia remains the flagship laugher.

“Usually Marc has a hard time maintaining long-term relationships, but luckily not with us,” said IFC president Jennifer Caserta. “He’s committed to bringing his wry humor and refreshing perspective back to IFC for a third season.”

Maron is produced by Fox Television Studios and counts its star as creator, executive producer and writer. It is distributed internationally by Tricon Films & Television

IFC recently ordered a second outing of miniseries The Spoils of Babylon.
