Comic-Con: Marvel's 'Inhumans' Footage Unveiled in Surprise Imax Sneak Peek

Four scenes from the series' two-hour Imax-shot premiere debuted at the show's panel in Ballroom 20 earlier in the day.

Fans at San Diego Comic-Con who showed up to a surprise "Imax and Thrill" event in the Gaslamp District's Horton Plaza Park were treated to a sneak peek at brand new footage from Marvel's Inhumans on Thursday night.

While the specifics of the event were kept a surprise to fans before the park opened, the first ones in line at the venue didn't puzzle too long once they saw the gigantic bulldog statue, a replica of the Inhumans character Lockjaw, that towered over the barricades. The first fans in line told The Hollywood Reporter that while they didn't know exactly what they were waiting for, they suspected it was an Inhumans event thanks to the giant Lockjaw (and the fact that they knew the Inhumans premiere was shot using IMAX cameras).

Though the barricades surrounding Lockjaw were removed and the staff wore branded Inhumans T-shirts, security still chastised anyone trying to take photos of the event before the official 7:30 start time.

Once the doors opened, fans could snack on pizza, popcorn, chocolate bars and water while they waited to enter the pop-up Imax theater to watch four new scenes from the series (which debuted at the show's Ballroom 20 panel just an hour prior). Though the air-conditioned tent provided high-quality visuals with an Imax screen, it wasn't exactly soundproofed — audience members could hear the rest of the crowd enjoying their snacks (but thankfully the DJ stopped spinning during each 15-minute screening).

The Inhumans cast dropped by for a photo-op with Lockjaw, but ended up staying far longer signing autographs and dropping in on one of the screenings, which ran continuously from 7:30 until midnight.

The first two episodes of Inhumans will premiere in Imax theaters for two weeks beginning Sept. 1, and the series will premiere on ABC two weeks after that on Sept. 29.
