'This Is Us' Honors Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting Victims
The Pearson family on This Is Us hails from Pittsburgh, and on Tuesday the show paid tribute to the victims of the mass shooting that killed 11 people at a synagogue there.
A title card at the end of the Oct. 30 episode, "Kamsahamnida," read, "Our hearts are broken. We stand with our television hometown of Pittsburgh." It also included the website for Everytown, an organization working to end gun violence.
Series creator Dan Fogelman shared the card on Twitter after the episode.

Fogelman also shared a way for viewers to donate to a charity aimed at helping victims' families.
Eleven people, including the aunt of Hollywood Reporter chief TV critic Daniel Fienberg, were killed Oct. 27 when a gunman started shooting inside the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood. Robert Bowers, 46, has been charged with 29 counts in connection with the shooting; federal prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against him.
Pittsburgh is the setting for the flashback scenes in This Is Us and shows Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as avowed Steelers fans. An episode from the current season even used the "Immaculate Reception" Steelers playoff game in 1972 as the backdrop for the couple's first date.
