James Corden is getting into the spirit of Thanksgiving with some holiday-themed musical tunes.

Tuesday night saw the late-night host invite TikTok star Dan Mertzluft onto his show to create a musical for Thanksgiving, where he played the role of a college kid who has been stuck at home for eight months. Corden was the Dad who wears holiday sweaters and is "loving life."

The late-night host also brought along Kristin Chenoweth to play the mother who is "living for Thanksgiving" right now, along with Patti LuPone, Josh Groban, Josh Gad and Audra McDonald, to participate in some holiday duets.

For those unfamiliar, Corden also shared the backstory to who  Mertzluft is and why his TikTok videos have captured so much attention on the internet in the past weeks.

"Now I'm not sure if you saw this, but a few weeks back, a brilliant TikToker by the name of Dan posted a video of himself performing an original musical theater number about being in a grocery store, and it was glorious," began Corden as he introduced the segment.

Cutting to a clip of the grocery store TikTok video and calling it "incredible," Corden explained that users all across the video-sharing platform began posting response videos using TikTok's duet feature and turning Mertzluft's song into "fully fledged musical numbers."

Speaking with Mertzluft, Corden asked the young star how his TikTok journey began. Mertzluft said that he got into TikTok at the beginning of the pandemic for some escapism. "I'm excited for the Broadway musical you write one day," said Corden. "I can see it and feel it already."
