James Corden joined Mark Wahlberg for a 4 a.m. workout and shared the experience on Wednesday's episode of The Late Late Show.

The segment began when Corden woke up in the middle of the night to prepare for the workout session. He used a handheld camera to document his early-morning journey to Wahlberg's house.

"It's 10 to 3:00 in the morning. According to Mark Wahlberg's Instagram schedule, he's praying right now," said Corden. "And so I'm praying that he cancels."

Corden then arrived at Wahlberg's home and pointed out the doormat with his family's last name. "That's when you know you made it. That's when you know," he said before he entered the house.

A third party filmed the remainder of the segment. "This is the most ridiculous ever," said Corden as he walked into the home gym. The host said that he only saw one car on the drive over.

"Isn't it nice and peaceful though?" Wahlberg asked about being awake so early. Corden responded, "I was more peaceful when I was flat-out asleep."

Before the workout began, Wahlberg warned Corden that it "was gonna suck." He continued, "But when you have a shake and some turkey burgers after, you're gonna feel great. You're gonna go and attack the rest of the day." Corden responded that he planned to go back to bed after the workout.

The two began by stretching out. When Wahlberg asked what Corden was doing before he went to bed at 10:30 p.m., the host responded, "Being a normal person." While mid-stretch, Corden later said, "I don't even know if I'm still awake or if this is some sort of weird dream. Just grinding on the floor at Mark Wahlberg's house."

After going through Wahlberg's morning schedule, Corden said that there was one aspect he could get behind. "So you do two meals. See, that appeals to me," he said. "What I realize is that I've been doing two breakfasts without the workouts. That's where I might be going wrong."

Wahlberg tried to motivate Corden for the workout by stating that he needs to get in shape so that he can scare his daughters' future boyfriends. "I'll just say I know Mark Wahlberg," said Corden. "So don't mess with me, 'cause I'll call him. He'll come over, provided it's before 5 p.m., otherwise he'll be asleep."

A montage of the two men exercising followed. Corden struggled alongside Wahlberg, specifically when he lifted a barbell.

Corden did show enthusiasm while doing jumping lunges. "Now I feel like we're a boy band and I'm enjoying it," he said. The host then sang the Backstreet Boys' song "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" to fully get into the mood.

Other workouts Corden was forced to do included push-ups while balancing his legs on an exercise ball, jumping rope without the jump rope and hitting a mini punching bag.

"Do you always work out in front of a cardboard cutout of yourself?" Corden asked after he pointed to one placed directly in front of Wahlberg during a portion of their session.

Corden took a break from exercising to give Wahlberg a T-shirt that had the two of them on the front accompanied by the text "4 A.M. Club."  The actor noted of the image, "You look a little more jacked than me." Corden responded, "I don't know why that happened. I just said to the guy, 'Imagine what I look like with my top off, and imagine what Mark looks like,' and they just did it."

After they returned to the workout, Corden asked how much longer they had to go. "This pretty much concludes the warm-up," said Wahlberg. "So now we've got to start to work out."

Corden announced that he was done and left as Wahlberg continued exercising.
