James Roday is going home … sorta.

The Psych grad has inked a one-year first-look deal with Psych producers Universal Cable Productions.

Under the deal, UCP — the studio behind the former USA Network drama in which Roday starred — will have the first crack at new projects from the actor, writer and director.

The news arrives as USA and UCP have had to hit pause on a planned Psych: The Movie sequel, as Roday is busy in production on ABC's new fall drama A Million Little Things (watch the trailer, below).

Roday joins a UCP slate of actors and producers including Charlize Theron's Denver & Delilah banner, John Carpenter, Kathleen Robertson, Hypnotic (which produces Suits and its upcoming spinoff for USA Network and Syfy's Nightflyers, YouTube's Impulse) and Dark Horse Entertainment (Umbrella Academy for Netflix).
Roday is currently in postproduction on Treehouse, which he co-wrote and directed, and will air as part of Hulu's Blumhouse anthology series. Jimmi Simpson and Julianna Guill star.

Roday's credits include writing pilots for USA, Fox, Syfy and directing installments of Blood Drive, The Resident and Psych. He penned the USA pilot Shoot the Moon, which starred Mandy Moore and Sam Huntington.

Roday is repped by ICM Partners and Principal Management.
