Jane Krakowski Joins Fox's 'A Christmas Story' Live Musical
Jane Krakowski is feeling the holiday spirit.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star has signed on for Fox's upcoming A Christmas Story live musical, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Silicon Valley grad Chris Diamantopoulos has also come on board the upcoming telecast.
Set in the 1940s, the story follows 9-year-old Ralphie, who only wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. The film follows Ralphie and his family's various holiday-themed adventures, which include a terrible trip to visit a department store Santa, his younger brother's disgusting eating habits and his dad's infatuation with an obnoxious lamp made to look like a woman's leg. The Fox production is based on the 1983 movie as well as the subsequent 2012 Broadway musical.
Krakowski will play Ralphie's teacher Miss Shields, while Diamantopoulos will portray Ralphie's dad.
The role brings Krakowski back to Fox, where she broke through as a series regular on Ally McBeal. The 30 Rock alum is repped by UTA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Diamantopoulos, whose other credits include Good Girls Revolt and Arrested Development, is repped by WME, Untitled Entertainment and Stone Genow.
The three-hour live broadcast hails from Warner Horizon Television. Marc Platt, who executive produced Fox's Grease Live in 2016, will serve in the same capacity on A Christmas Story. He is joined by fellow exec producer Adam Siegel (the Broadway revival of The King and I), with Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary (Grease Live) serving as co-exec producers and writers. Oscar- and Tony-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul of La La Land and Dear Evan Hansen wrote the original music for A Christmas Story: The Musical and will compose several songs for the TV event. The live telecast will be filmed at Warner Bros.' Burbank lot.
A Christmas Story Live is set to air on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. ET on Fox.
