'Jane the Virgin's' Jaime Camil to Host TCA Awards
Jane the Virgin's Jaime Camil is taking his act on the road.
The actor is set to host the 2016 Television Critics Association's 32nd annual awards show, set to cap the summer tour in August.
The non-televised awards are set for Aug. 6 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, where the semi-annual tour is held for a two-week period as broadcasters, cable networks and streaming services present their new and some returning fare.
Camil, who stars as telenovela favorite Rogelio de la Vega on The CW's critical darling, joins a roster of hosts for the event that includes James Corden (last year), Terry Crews, Conan O'Brien, Bryan Cranston, Key & Peele, Ellen DeGeneres, Nick Offerman, Dax Shepard and Bob Newhart.
"With his natural charm and quick wit, Jaime Camil has quickly become one of the most likeable personalities on television,” said TCA president and THR contributor Amber Dowling. "Camil, along with his beloved alter ego Rogelio de la Vega, are the perfect complement to add some sizzle to this special evening. The Television Critics Association is truly honored to have him on board as we come together to celebrate 32 years of the TCA Awards."
The actor is a Critics' Choice, Imagen and Teen Choice Award nominee who has recorded four platinum-selling albums and starred in multiple Mexico City musicals. He's currently starring on Broadway in Chicago, playing Billy Flynn.
Twelve awards will be handed out in categories including best comedy, best drama, best reality series and best new show. Nominations for the TCA Awards have not yet been announced. Last year's winners included Empire, Inside Amy Schumer, Better Call Saul and The Americans.
