Jenna Dewan Tatum is very interested in dance-related TV. The Step Up star, who in 2016 was developing her own dance competition for NBC with husband Channing Tatum, has now boarded the network's World of Dance.

Mrs. Tatum will serve as host and mentor on the straight-to-series order, joining an already-cast judging panel of Ne-Yo, Derek Hough and Jennifer Lopez. The latter is an executive producer on the series, which is being produced by her Nuyorican Productions and NBC's new in-house Universal Television Alternative Studio. The 10-episode run is expected to premiere later in the year.

World of Dance is a show by dancers for dancers,” said Lopez. “Jenna is the perfect addition to join Ne-Yo, Derek and me in our World of Dance family. We are thrilled to have her.”

Like many other reality competitions, the series will feature dancers vying against one another — with the ultimate winner nabbing a $1 million prize. Tatum is best known for her recent work as an actress, but it was her dance skills in breakout Step Up that originally brought her notoriety.

“Jenna’s background as a dancer, entertainer and actress make her the perfect choice to host and work alongside our three incredibly talented judges,” said Universal Television Alternative Studio President Meredith Ahr. “We can’t wait to get started and give these four superstars a chance to both articulate and demonstrate how transformational dance can be.”

Tatum is presently under a first-look unscripted deal with Universal Television.
