Jenna Fischer Hasn't Heard About an 'Office' Revival — But Would Do It in a Second
Jenna Fischer hasn't heard a thing about any potential revival of The Office.
The actress, appearing Monday at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour to support ABC's midseason comedy Splitting Up Together, told reporters that she didn't know anything about NBC's rumored revival of The Office.
"I think that’s for networks to figure out if I were to be asked," Fischer told the press gathering. "I haven't been approached about it and don't know anything about it. … But I love Pam!"
News broke in December that NBC was mulling a revival of The Office, with a new star to replace Steve Carell and a new cast — with some returning faces. The network has not commented on any potential revival of The Office. (NBC will be at TCA on Tuesday, though there is no executive session.) Sources caution that a deal is far from set for a revival, which could include some returning faces as well as a new cast of characters.
Some original castmembers from The Office have been vocal about their interest in returning for a potential revival: Angela Kinsey and Creed Bratton have both said that they'd return.
As for Fischer, she told The Hollywood Reporter after the panel that she would indeed love to return to play Pam Beesly: "I think the idea of an Office revival is a great idea. I would be honored to come back in any way that I am able to. I loved playing that character and as long as Greg Daniels is the person in charge and the visionary behind it, then I would absolutely be up for it. We just have to get Mindy [Kaling], B.J. Novak, Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, Mike Schur to write some episodes. That show was so great because of the talent involved behind the scenes, not just on the screen."
Fischer stars as a divorced woman who opts to continue to live with her ex-husband (Oliver Hudson) on Splitting Up Together. The series is set to premiere Tuesday, March 27, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
