Jenny Bicks Inks Lionsgate TV Overall Deal
Jenny Bicks is on the move.
The Sex and the City alum has inked an overall deal with Lionsgate Television. Under the terms of the pact, Bicks will create and produce scripted originals for the indie studio overseen by Lionsgate TV Group chairman Kevin Beggs.
Bicks most recently reunited with Sarah Jessica Parker as showrunner on the HBO comedy Divorce. Bicks inked an overall deal with HBO last year and took over for season one showrunner Paul Simms. While the comedy has not officially been renewed for a third run at the premium cable network, Liz Tuccillo — who has been with the show for a season — will take over for Bicks as showrunner.
For Bicks, meanwhile, she has had overalls with 20th Century Fox TV and Sony TV and has a respectable amount of credits, including Dawson's Creek, Men in Trees, The Big C and producing and writing feature films such as The Greatest Showman and Rio.
"I'm thrilled to join Kevin, Sandra [Stern], Chris [Selak] and the rest of the Lionsgate family through this new partnership," Bicks said. "I've always enjoyed Lionsgate's cutting-edge programming. They're not afraid to support a creator's unique vision and I'm excited to add my voice to their chorus."
Bicks joins a rapidly growing roster of scripted producers with overalls at Lionsgate TV that also includes Justin Simien (Dear White People), Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men), Courtney Kemp (Power), Paul Feig and more.
"Jenny has helmed some of the most iconic television series, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome her to our creative team," said Selak, Lionsgate exec vp and head of worldwide scripted TV. "She's an incredibly talented multihyphenate, and we look forward to working with her on premium, breakthrough original programming for our television slate."
Bicks is repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson.
