Jim Belushi to Play Taran Killam's Father in Showtime Comedy

A pilot for 'Mating,' which hails from Jason Katims, was ordered by the cable network in August.

Jim Belushi is headed to Showtime.

The premium cable network has cast the former According to Jim star opposite Taran Killam in Jason Katims' upcoming comedy Mating. Written and created by The Americans' Stu Zicherman, the comedic anthology explores modern dating, with each season focusing on a different protagonist's journey.

The first season will center on Jay, a newly divorced guy played by Killam. After marrying young, he now finds himself unprepared for the world of dating and hooking up. Belushi will portray Jay's father and business partner, Paul.

Zicherman will pen the script and executive produce alongside Katims and his Universal Television-based True Jack Productions head Michelle Lee. The project was first put in development in August 2014. Showtime boarded the comedy as a co-production with Universal Television after ordering the pilot.

Belushi was recently seen on the small screen in HBO's Show Me a Hero, and has roles in the the upcoming dramas Good Girls Revolt and Twin Peaks. He's repped by ICM Partners and Brillstein.
