JonBenet Ramsey Investigation Discovery Special Unveils First Look (Exclusive Video)

Nearly 20 years after 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered in her home, a slew of new TV specials are hoping to finally solve the case.

Investigation Discovery is one of the networks digging into the unsolved homicide with its forthcoming JonBenet: An American Murder Mystery.

As seen in The Hollywood Reporter's exclusive video, the three-part special re-examines the details of how she died as well as the theories about who killed her, particularly whether it was a member of the Ramsey family or an intruder. Most notably, the exclusive video above discusses an interesting substance found in Ramsey's stomach that may lead to new questions, and answers, about what happened on that fateful night in December 1996.

The special includes interviews with a former Boulder Police sergeant, former Colorado Springs detectives and a former investigator for the Boulder County District Attorney's Office, as well as private investigators for the Ramsey family and close confidants, among others.

From Weinstein Television, American Media and Jupiter Entertainment, JonBenet: An American Murder Mystery is one of four TV projects centered on her mysterious death set to debut this fall. CBS has the docuseries The Case Of: JonBenet Ramsey, A&E has The Killing of JonBenet: The Truth Uncovered and Lifetime has a TV movie in the works. Additionally, Dr. Phil will launch the latest season of his daytime syndicated talk show with an exclusive interview with Ramsey's brother, Burke Ramsey.

The projects continue the true-crime trend recently propelled by docuseries like Making a Murderer as well as scripted shows like The People v. O.J. Simpson.

JonBenet: An American Murder Mystery airs over three nights on Investigation Discovery, kicking off on Monday, Sept. 12, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
