The stars are lining up to
roast pay tribute to Alec Baldwin.
Julianne Moore, Tracy Morgan, Kate McKinnon, Jane Krakowski and Jack McBrayer are set to present at Spike TV's forthcoming special Alec Baldwin: One Night Only.
Announced in March, the special will see Baldwin's friends and luminaries from the comedy, film and TV worlds pay tribute to the Emmy winner in a night that will also include music, personal stories and a few surprises along the way. The black tie event will tape at the Apollo Theater in Harlem on Sunday, June 25 and air on Spike on July 9.
Frequent 30 Rock director Beth McCarthy Miller will helm the special, which is produced by Casey Patterson Entertainment (Lip Sync Battle). More talent for the special is expected to be announced shortly.
Baldwin's connections to the first group of presenters run deep. He starred opposite Moore twice, first when she played his love interest on 30 Rock for six episodes and later when they played husband and wife in the 2014 film Still Alice, for which she won the Oscar.
The veteran actor also starred alongside Morgan, Krakowski and McBrayer for all seven seasons of critical darling 30 Rock, for which Baldwin won two Emmys and three Golden Globes.
He shared the screen many times with McKinnon this past season of Saturday Night Live, when she played the Hillary Clinton to his Donald Trump.
The One Night Only special comes in the midst of a banner year for Baldwin. In addition to his Trump impersonation on SNL, he voiced the title character in the box office hit Boss Baby, released a memoir and hosted SNL for the record-breaking 17th time. He is next slated to appear in Hulu's 9/11 drama The Looming Tower and the upcoming sixth Mission Impossible film.
Baldwin joins recent One Night Only honorees Eddie Murphy and Don Rickles.
The decision to bring back One Night Only comes as Spike prepares for a major rebranding. The Viacom-owned cable network will move away from its guy-centered slate and towards the more broad lineup when it becomes the Paramount Network in early 2018.
Patterson's Lip Sync Battle, the cable channel's current biggest hit, will remain on the channel, joining scripted programming including a Heathers TV anthology based on the beloved film and the period dramedy American Woman.
Patterson will exec produce with Charlie Haykel and Juliane Hare. Spike's svp, sports and special, Jon Slusser, will serves as the network’s executive in charge.
One Night Only: Alec Baldwin premieres Sunday, July 9 at 9 p.m. on Spike TV.
