Justin Kirk is returning to Showtime, set for a recurring role in the network's upcoming Jim Carrey comedy.

Kidding marks Kirk's latest TV gig after a stint on 2017 Fox drama APB. It's also his return to Showtime after a lengthy eight-season run on the network's former flagship comedy Weeds. Kidding, created by Weeds alum Dave Holstein, already has a starry cast. In addition to Carrey, series regulars are Catherine Keener, Frank Langella and Judy Greer.

The project, Carrey's first regular TV gig in more than two decades, follows the comedian as a Mr. Rogers-esque children's television personality whose kind demeanor is tested by his imploding personal life. Kirk will play the boyfriend of Carrey's estranged wife (Greer).

Kirk has been busy since he departed the Showtime fold in 2012, toplining such series as APB, Animal Practice and Tyrant — as well as appearing in several films (Oscar nominee Molly's Game) and recurring on Modern Family, Manhattan and You're the Worst.

Kirk is repped by UTA and Management 360.
