Kathryn Hahn Sets Return to Showtime's 'Happyish'
Showtime's Happyish is bringing back one of its original stars.
Kathryn Hahn will return as the female lead opposite Steve Coogan in the premium cable network's Happyish 2.0, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The prolific actress originally starred opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman in the comedy series. Coogan took over the role for the late actor, and now Hahn has formalized her return as Lee, Thom Payne's (Coogan) wife and mother to their 6-year-old son Julius. Honest and direct to a considerable fault, Lee believes that people are good and the world can be a better place, which is probably why she is so pissed off: because we aren't, and it can't. But she loves Thom, and Thom loves her, even though they both loathe themselves.
Production on the new pilot will begin next month in New York. It's unclear which, if any, other original co-stars will return for the new version.
Created, written and executive produced by This American Life contributor Shalom Auslander, the series also was executive produced by Hoffman via his Cooper's Town Productions banner. Ken Kwapis (He's Just Not That Into You) will exec produce and direct the new pilot alongside producing partner Alexandra Beattie, who will co-EP under their Cahoots banner.
Hahn's credits include Parks and Recreation, Revolutionary Road and We're the Millers. She's repped by Gersh, Brillstein and Schreck Rose.
