Jimmy Fallon was very careful to warn his viewers about Game of Thrones spoilers when Kit Harington visited his show on Friday night.

“He stars — or starred — as Jon Snow,” said Fallon on The Tonight Show. "If you’re not caught up, plug your ears right now, mute your television and when I do this [waving his hands in the air], un-mute."

With all of the not-caught-up Game of Thrones watchers successfully warned — warning: stop reading now if you aren't! — Fallon then turned to Harington and said, "So, you're alive. Feels good, right?"

With a smile, Harington couldn't help but agree. "It feels good to say that," he said. "It feels good to be alive."

After last season's massive cliffhanger when fan-favorite Snow was stabbed and left for dead, the viewers were left to wait, and theorize, about his fate for nearly a year. Then on the second episode of the current season (which aired May 1), Lord Commander Snow was brought back to life. Fallon pressed Harington about how he kept the massive TV secret.

"When the writers told me, they said, 'You can’t tell anyone — you can’t tell your mom, your dad, your brother, your friends,'" said Harington about how HBO kept the tight circle to the show's writers, producers and novelist George R. R. Martin. But Harington couldn't help himself. "I told Mom and Dad right away — that’s Mom and Dad!" He also told his girlfriend, GoT alum Rose Leslie.

But no one in the public knew — except for one stranger.

"One policeman," Harington said. "I was driving to my parents' house and driving too fast and this policeman pulls me over and he said: 'There's two ways we can do this: You can either follow me back to the police station and I book you in, or you can tell me whether you live on the next season.'"

Harington says he laughed, but the officer's face was stone-cold. He says the officer continued,"Whether I take you into the police station depends on what your answer is."

So what did the actor do?

"I looked at him and said, 'I’m alive next season.' And he says, 'On your way, Lord Commander.'”
