Kurtwood Smith has found his next project.

The That '70s Show star has boarded Amazon Studios pilot The Patriot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The veteran actor was last seen on ABC's Resurrection, which was canceled in January after two seasons.

The Patriot, a dramedy from Steve Conrad (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) tells the story of the Allerton family, centering on undercover spy John Allerton, his father Tom Allerton — a State Department director of intelligence — and his congressman brother Edward Allerton. Smith will play the part of Mr. Claret, a character who has an adversarial relationship with John Allerton.

The Patriot is one of several pilots currently in development at Amazon, including David E. Kelley legal drama The Trial, starring Billy Bob Thornton, and The Good Girls Revolt, a drama about a women's movement at a magazine in the 1960s. The streamer is set to bow two new pilots for public viewing on Friday. They are Bryan Cranston-produced Sneaky Pete, which was originally set at CBS, and Diego Luna starrer Casanova.

Should The Patriot make it to series after Amazon's public voting period, it would join the streamer's growing roster of programming including Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle and the forthcoming drama adaptation The Man in the High Castle

Smith is repped by Progressive Artists Agency and Pop Art Management.
