Laverne Cox to Host Lifetime's 'Glam Masters' (Exclusive)
Glam Masters, the Lifetime series executive produced by Kim Kardashian, has found its team of beauty experts.
Laverne Cox has been tapped as the makeup competition series' host and judge. The Orange Is the New Black star will be joined by Kardashian's longtime makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, YouTube makeup expert Kandee Johnson, and co-founder of Milk Makeup and Marie Claire senior fashion editor Zanna Roberts Rassi as judges.
Glam Masters is described as an eight-episode series that puts beauty influencers through themed challenges. Each episode will see four beauty bloggers go head-to-head to prove they have the talent, charisma and vision it takes to be the next big name in the beauty world, all while facing the judges. The winner each week will qualify to advance to the semifinals, where the best will battle it out for one of three spots in the tournament of masters finale. In the end, only one of these beauty-obsessed bloggers will get to claim the title of Glam Masters.
"I'm such a beauty junkie and am fascinated by how artists are able to transform someone's look with makeup and couldn't be more ecstatic for them to show what they can really do," said Kardashian.
Glam Masters creator and Style Lab host Diana Madison joins Kardashian as an executive producer.
The series is produced by Shed Media, a division of Warner Bros. Unscripted and Alternative Television, for Lifetime. Pam Healey, John Hesling, Dan Peirson and Colleen Sands executive produce for Shed Media, while David Hillman and Kim Chessler executive produce for Lifetime. Cox serves as co-executive producer.
Glam Masters is the latest in Lifetime's portfolio of fashion, beauty and lifestyle series, which includes Project Runway, Project Runway All Stars, makeup and hair competition series American Beauty Star with host Adriana Lima, and the competition series Making a Model with host Yolanda Hadid.
Glam Masters premieres Feb. 28 at 10 p.m. PT/ET.
