As The Leftovers prepares to bid adieu, HBO has released a new promo for the drama's third and final season — and things are looking pretty grim.

The 30-second teaser revisits a handful of the show's main characters — including those played by Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston and Amy Brenneman — as they each look up to the sky.

Set to The Beach Boys' "Don't Worry Baby," the clip builds until it reveals a message a plane has been writing in the clouds. "The End Is Near," reads the skywriting as the music turns briefly ominous.

The new season, which debuts April 16, will pick up where it left off, in Austin, Texas, before relocating to Australia. From Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, the drama will wrap its run with a final eight-episode run.
