TV Ratings: 'Legacies' Premiere on Par with 'Originals'
The premiere of Legacies on The CW Thursday put up ratings in line with those of its immediate predecessor, The Originals.
Thursday Night Football rebounded from last week's poor showing and gave Fox to a win for the night, and the rest of the Big Four networks were pretty steady.
Legacies, the latest show in The Vampire Diaries franchise, scored a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49, on par with The Originals' 2017-18 average. It was ahead of the latter show's season premiere in total viewers (1.2 million vs. 969,000).
The 0.3 lands the premiere in between The CW's other series debuts this fall, Charmed (0.5) and All American (0.2). Supernatural tied its series low of 0.3 at 8 p.m.
Thursday Night Football drew a 9.2 household rating in metered markets, a big jump from the season-low 6.6 a week ago. It was up 10 percent over the comparable game in 2017.
Grey's Anatomy returned from a week off to post a 1.5 in the 18-49 demo on ABC, even with its last outing. Station 19 ticked up a little to 0.9, and How to Get Away with Murder held at 0.7.
CBS' Big Bang Theory (2.2) led the non-football primetime slate and improved by 0.2 on last week's fast nationals (it adjusted up to 2.1 in the finals). Young Sheldon (1.7) and SWAT (0.7) matched their week-ago numbers, while Mom (1.2) and Murphy Brown (0.8) came down a tenth of a point each.
Superstore (0.9), The Good Place (0.8) and Will & Grace (0.9) were all even week to week for NBC. I Feel Bad (0.5) and Law & Order: SVU (0.9) are down a tenth of a point apiece.
Fox currently has a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 for the night, a number that should rise in the finals with adjustments for its live NFL broadcast. CBS' 1.2 finished second, ahead of ABC's 1.0. NBC averaged 0.8 and The CW 0.3.
