Liam Neeson Auditions to Be Cupid in 'Late Show' Sketch
Liam Neeson is no stranger to taking on enemies in his action films, but he shows he's ready to use his intimidation tactics for good in a Valentine’s Day-themed sketch for Friday’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
In a mock audition tape, the action star attempts to portray cupid, donning wings, a heart-embroidered sash and a red bow and arrow.
“I’m going to shoot this arrow right into your heart,” Neeson says. After being asked to further embrace Cupid’s loving demeanor, the actor tried to incorporate the notes with little success. “No matter where you go, or where you hide, love will find you,” Neeson threatens.
After the actor is described as being too “intimidating,” Neeson grows defensive. “I think what I’m doing is right. Just listen to the classic Sam Cook song.” Neeson then quotes lyrics from the song, “Cupid, draw back your bow, let your arrow go, straight to my lover’s heart.
“That’s a kill shot, pal. Penetrate the aorta, he’d bleed out in 10 seconds. He’s a trained methodical marksman with deadly aim, shooting arrows into random victims,” Neeson argues, also noting that he doesn’t make his killed enemies fall in love.
Neeson then comically recites a revamped version of his infamous dialogue from Taken. "If you two don’t fall in love, I will look for you and I will find you and I will change your relationship status to ‘it’s complicated.'”
The actor previously appeared on The Late Show auditioning for the part of Santa Claus.
